Safa Ride Workflow & Permissions

Understanding the Mosque-Centric Ridesharing Ecosystem

Concept Overview

Safa Ride is a community-driven ridesharing and carpooling application centering around local mosques. By connecting members of the same congregation, Safa Ride makes transportation to daily prayers, Friday congregation, and community events safe, social, and accessible.

Roles & Permissions Hierarchy

To ensure safety, accountability, and proper governance, Safa Ride utilizes a structured roles and permissions system:

  • SuperAdmin: Holds global administrative privileges across all 3,000+ mosques in the United States. Only SuperAdmins can approve and promote a regular user to a Mosque Admin.
  • Mosque Admin: Manages the local scope of one or more specific mosques. They can define localized pickup points, update mosque information (website, board members, social details), and approve requests from regular users who wish to join their mosque.
  • Regular User: A community member. When onboarding, a regular user selects a mosque they belong to and must be admitted by that mosque's local admin (or a SuperAdmin) before scheduling rides.

Location & Route Rules

In Phase 1, all rides are strictly limited to and from predefined pickup locations established by the local Mosque Admin. This restriction simplifies scheduling and coordination. Point-to-point routes are not supported in the initial version.

User Profiles & Onboarding

During onboarding, users choose their default role profile: Rider or Driver. This status is not permanent and can be toggled at any time via the settings screen in the left-hand drawer navigation menu.

Workflow Actions

1

Requesting a Ride

A passenger posts a ride request. This request appears on the mosque dashboard. Any authorized driver belonging to the mosque can accept it, creating a shared ride automatically.

2

Offering a Ride

A driver posts a ride offer for a specific time and predefined location. Other members of the mosque can browse the dashboard and join the offered ride as passengers.

3

Ride Capacity

By default, each ride supports a maximum capacity of 4 individuals (including the driver). Other mosque members can join the ride until the capacity limit is filled.
